The Big Bear bed and breakfast is open year round. It is smoking, pet and fragrance free. Varied breakfast menus feature Alaskan products and wild berry specialties. Menus differ for on return visits with special diets accommodated. The Big Bear Bed and Breakfast offers off street parking, cable TV/DVD/VCR, WiFi and freezer space is available. It is located two miles from downtown Anchorage and train depot, nine miles from Anchorage International Airport and 1/2 mile from Highway #1. It is neat Alaska Native Heritage Center, neighborhood restaurants and shopping.

The Alaska Big Bear has a full breakfast that features Alaskan specialties such as sourdough waffles, wild berry toppings, reindeer sausage, blueberry coffee cake and salmon quiche, plus homemade Danish bear paws and other baked specialties.
About your host
Carol has enjoyed sharing her home and knowledge of Alaska with Anchorage Bed and Breakfast guests since 1990. She is a retired Anchorage home economics teacher and a lifelong Alaskan. Daughter Shelley and Granddaghter Rechelle assist in the operation of the popular Anchorage Bed & Breakfast.

Carol’s late husband Bill was a carpenter and his craftmanship can be discovered throughout the Big Bear bed and breakfast. A highlight is the beautiful stained glass that he designed and built.

Carol is a Certified Alaska Tour Guide and will gladly assist you in planning a memorable Alaskan experience. She is a member of the Anchorage Alaska B&B Association, Bed & Breakfast Association of Alaska, Anchorage Convention & Visitors Bureau, Better Business Bureau of Alaska, Daughters of the American Revolution, Mt.
