Northfield has a new bed and breakfast in town with the recently opened Contented Cottage.
The Contented Cottage officially opened the weekend of September 23. It is located near Sy. Olaf College at 5 Walden PI., just off Highway 19.
Steve and Lisa Bolduc began renovation work a year and a half ago to bring the two-bedroom house together as a bed and breakfast.
Lisa likes to use the phrase, “There are no strangers here, just friends who have not met,” in describing the spirit of the bed and breakfast.
It features cottage décor, she said, and the living room features a barn door from Spare Door in Northfield. The living room also holds a fire place as does one of the room. The other room has a balcony for guests.
Breakfast in a three-course meal served from 7-9 a.m., and has fresh effs from chickens on the property.
The bed and breakfast also offers luncheon teas for groups who want to get together.
“We want to be part of the community,” Steve said.
The bed and breakfast is tucked away enough for guests to relax while still being close enough to the city.
“The experience is just comfortability,” Steve said. “It’s a staycation.”
